Sive Brassil reaches women’s final at Pentathlon World Championships

Ireland’s Sive Brassil made a confident start to her campaign at the UIPM 2019 Pentathlon and Laser Run World Championships after comfortably qualifying for the women’s final.

The 25-year-old finished 4th in her qualification semi-final with 1,013 points, guaranteeing her participation in Friday’s final where three places at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will be at stake.

Eilidh Prise also took part in today’s qualification round but withdrew after completing the swimming and fencing disciplines.

The UIPM 2019 World Championships marks the first time that Modern Pentathlon and Laser Run have been merged into one competition.

On Monday Ireland started strongly as Prise and Kate Coleman Lenehan finished 4th in the Women’s Relay.

The 2018 Laser Run World Championships were held in Dublin, where the Irish team won five medals including silver medals in the elite individual events for Coleman Lenehan and Tom O’Brien.
